Visiting the Niña

In fourteen hundred ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
He had three ships and left from Spain…

Several days ago we had a cool opportunity to see a replica of Columbus’ favorite ship, the Niña.
I was so surprised at how small she was. I can’t imagine being at sea for such a long on such a small ship…

Her bow…

Her stern…

Cool pics. Where did you see the Niña?

My kids HATE any talk about Columbus. When we were new homeschoolers, I was very zealous. More was better certainly applied to my teaching style. So, I showed exposed them to every book, article, movie, art project, curriculum, and hands-on activity I could find. I loved it. Them? Not so much. Over-eating to the point of vomiting is never a good thing and doesn’t leave a pleasant after-taste.

I was thinking exactly what mom wrote when I was looking at your photos. Then I saw that she left a post about making Tim and me loath Columbus. I still do. It makes me a little jaded, but your photos still are beautiful. I’ll have to show Tim them.
